Hannah and I went to college together and I fell in love with her personality pretty much instantly.. We've kept in touch via Facebook and Snapchat much like many people do with their old classmates, and bonded over art, nerdy things, and Harry Potter. When she told me she wanted to do a photo shoot with her husband of one year and their adorable Corgi, Beatrix, I kind of thought my head was going to pop from the excitement. Oh, did I forget to add I am obsessed with dogs?? Yeah.

The four of us had a wonderful time shooting in a patch of woods in Anderson, South Carolina after one of our rare snow falls. Hanging out with them was so much fun... they are truly a cool couple. They totally rock this miss matched plaid (insert heart eyes). And lets not forget about this amazing sunlight streaming in through the trees. #swoon

Smith Sister Session | Rock Hill Portrait Photographer

Brittany is a dear friend of mine, and when she told me that she wanted pictures of her and her sister Danielle to give to her mother, I was SO EXCITED. First of all, look at how beautiful these girls are!! Talk about good photos for my portfolio... But also, I love helping people give the gift of memories. Brittany and Danielle have not had their pictures made together since Brittany, now 25, was about 7 years old. This was such a special gift, and I had a blast with the girls!

Its never too late to have family pictures made... Don't let your story go untold!

Throughout 2015 I felt like I was constantly taking photos... but never for me. When I did finally make an effort to take more photos for myself, I never got around to editing and resizing, and printing.. so what was the point? My goal for 2016 is to take more pictures for me... find the beauty in every day life. I hope to post at least one per week this year.

Just to see them smile makes my whole life.

I didn't plan for this to be my first picture. In fact, I didn't even decide I was going to try and document my life this year until two days ago. I got the idea and then I thought "What will I photograph before the 7th??".

I wanted my first image to be special because sometimes my weekly photo may be my dog or my keyboard, because lets be honest.. those things consume my life sometimes.

But stopping and thinking about what is beautiful to me about every day normal life....

THIS..

My siblings live in Virginia and I don't get to see them nearly as often as I would like... overtime i do I think they've grown a foot.

My baby sister Josephine had just dyed her hair blue and we went to take pictures of it. I asked about good locations and they were;t really sure, so I asked if they knew of a field and Jo suggested their old elementary school. So we went, and it was perfect. After I snapped a few pictures they asked if they could go play on the monkey bars...

My sisters are much younger than me, 11 and 12 years each.. and all I could think in that moment was I hope I can remember this forever.. the innocence, the happiness, the lack of sibling banter. The way the golden sun set bounced from their face, the laughter...

I grabbed my camera, and now I have this moment forever.

Thats what I love about project life... taking your normal every day life and capturing it in a beautiful and artistic way. I encourage you all to participate in a similar project, or just take the time to stop and appreciate the little things. It goes so quickly.

I have known Alicia since we attended elementary and middle school together, then she and Ross both went to the same college as me. It was such a blessing to photograph Alicia & Ross's engagement. Our timing with the sun was perfect and I am so pleased with the pictures that resulted from it. It was so sweet to watch these two and how they interact after so many years of being together. Thanks for making me believe in love a little more.

Having a chance to meet the Clary family was such a treat for me. As soon as I got out of my car, their youngest daughter ran right to me and gave me a huge hug. I have to say, that was a first for me, but it melted my heart. Their children are so sweet, I loved watching them run around chasing one another, and chasing daddy.
